I LIKE your comics, and I know I picked up at least one of them at the Portland Zine Symposium (maybe from Jesse Reklaw's table?). Do you live in the NW, or were you just visiting Pt Townsend? I was there in June on a visit. It's such a nice town.
i lived in portland up until two months ago. (now i am in flux.) you probably bought my comic from the sparkplug table (though i took jesse reklaw's learn-to-draw-comics course at portland community college, so it's possible the comics were near him cause they wanted to be closer to their sensei).
+ i see you're teaching too -- rad! i'm not sure if it's objectively true or i'm just becoming obsessed, but it feels like minicomics are exploding right now. like america is ready to boil over...with minicomics! it's good that you're helping stoke this cultural phenomenon.
Jesse had a display of some of your comics amongst his Global Hobo Distribution items, and I think he mentioned that you were a former student of his, and we both agreed that your comics are cool. Sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you while you were in Portland. Give me a heads up if you ever visit Seattle!
Mini-comics are definitely having a resurgence! I think maybe the tough times we, as a nation, have been going through may be encouraging people to speak out more / defy the mass media, etc. Or people are just tired of all the technology and want to do more handmade stuff. I din't know, but I'm glad to see it!
